Nokia Smartphone displays will 'improve' in Future.......HMD
HMD has started teasing a smartphone launch for MWC 2019 for February 24. However, that’s not all what’s new this year. The Finnish smartphone maker is joining hands with Pixelworks Inc, a display processing solutions provider to deliver an enhanced viewing experience in future Nokia smartphones. The announcement was made on January 30.
HMD has already worked with Pixelworks previously for the Nokia 7.1’s Pureview Display visual processor and now HMD wants Pixelworks to work on such tech for the rest of the handsets as well.
It is worth adding that HMD and Pixelworks Inc’s announcement comes few days ahead of company’s February 24 smartphone launch at MWC 2019 conference. The handset maker is widely rumoured to launch its much-anticipated Nokia 9 smartphone at the event. The handset might have a LCD display worked up by Pixelworks.
Juho Sarvikas, HMD Global’s chief product officer adds “As mobile becomes the go-to destination for content viewing, consumers worldwide seek a premium display and video performance. We’ve been delighted by the response to Nokia 7.1 from our fans. The PureDisplay with Pixelworks technology was a significant part of our promise. Superior HDR tone mapping enables cinematic viewing experience when viewing HDR 10 videos or pictures, real-time SDR to HDR conversion technology for an Always HDR experience and local contrast and sharpness enhancement for better viewing experience in all lighting conditions elevates the viewing experience on the Nokia 7.1. We are pleased to continue working with Pixelworks and look forward to bringing this experience to future Nokia smartphones.”
